The best holidays

Well, I'll tell you about my craziest experience:

In 2017 I traveled with my dad to Peru and Bolivia. It was really an adventure, I'll tell you why: first, we travel by plane to Antofagasta. Then by bus to Iquique where we stayed in a hotel in front of Cavancha beach, and then we traveled to Arica. From there we cross the border to Tacna-Perú. Then we arrived in Arequipa, a beautiful colonial city called the white city for its constructions of white volcanic stone. We finally arrived in Cuzco, a beautiful beautiful city that I recommend visiting. From Cuzco we went to Aguas Calientes, where we bathed in hot springs at night looking at the stars. That city has the access to Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu. It's incredible the architecture that the Incas did there, I was impressed. The last city in Peru that we visited is Puno, where we went to the floating islands of the Uros. They live there, floating in "totora"!

After that, we traveled to La Paz, Bolivia (It's not a pretty city for me). Then we arrived in Uyuni where we took a tour of 3 days and we visited the Salar de Uyuni and the geysers. I loved that place and for that I also recommend it very much, it's a great experience. Finally we traveled to San Pedro de Atacama, and then to Antofagasta again to go back to Quilpué, the city where I live.

I say that it was crazy because sometimes we slept one night in a bus and another night in a hotel. The travel was tired but it was worth it!

A country I would like to visit

 Hi everyone!

This is my first post and I will talk about a country I would like to visit, which is Switzerland. This is because I want to know the nature of Switzerland, its alps and its lakes. I think it's one of the countries with the most beautiful landscapes, although all countries have their charm and that's why I would love to travel around the world.

What I know about Switzerland is that has 4 official languages: French, German, Italian and Romanche. Besides that is a neutral country and that's why has a lot of mundial organizations. Its capital is Bern and its most populated city is Zurich. Another thing very important for me is chocolate! I love it, and Switzerland is recognized for its chocolates. A freak fact is that the mountain in the next photo is called Cervino and it's the mountain that appears in the logo of Toblerone chocolate.

Also, of course I would like to live there, so maybe can be a plan for me when I retire from job, in many years more. For now, I hope to meet his country on some vacations someday.

Thank you for reading me!

Post 8: A Subject you enjoyed studying this semester

Well, I think that the most entertaining subject this semester is "the pharmaceutical chemist and its action" because it is the subject that is closest to my career, because all other subjects are common plan of basic sciences like calculus, general chemistry, mechanics, etc. This subject is divided in 4 modules: 1) pharmaceutical terminology in which we learn the main words for the profession, 2) talks and testimonies of graduates where they tell about their experiences, 3) visits (online for the context) to a hospital, industry and community pharmacy, and 4) debate, where we discuss current issues. In my group, we have to debate about if it is right to restrict the number of pharmacies into the zones. The debate is the next week, and for now we are investigating about our thesis. It is interesting because we learn about how the context is today. Next semester, I will have "the medicine and its evolution", which is a subject of career too. I'm excited about it!

Post 7: An Expert on your field

I chose Griselda Hinojosa, the first woman pharmacist in Chile, because she was one of the first women to get a university degree in the country. She was born in Copiapó and she studied at University of Chile in 1889. Later, she defined herself as a pharmaceutical chemist, although that denomination didn't exist yet. After graduating in 1899, she worked in the "Botica y Droguería" of Copiapó and then with her husband founded the pharmacy Manuel Antonio Matta in Santiago.
I admire Griselda because she lived in a conservative society, but she was anticlerical, radical, freethinker, positivist, rationalist and she had feminist reflections, and also she managed to study in a career with only men.

Post 6: A Band / Singer I like

Definitely, my favorite singer is Ed Sheeran. He is a British singer and I have loved him for 6 years approximately. What makes me like him so much is his beautiful voice. I went to see him the 2 times that he came to Chile. The first time in 2015 at National Stadium Athletic Track and the second time in 2017 at Movistar Arena. He is so special because on the stage is only him and his guitar and in this way he could fill Wembley Stadium with his fans four times in 2017, on four days in a row! Also he is so young. He is 29 years old and he is married since last year, but he is so reserved with his personal life.

Ed has 4 albums of studio and so many EPs. I think that I don't have a favorite song but I love "Perfect" which is a song of his album "÷". Here is the song!

Post 5: A Photograph I like

I chose this photograph because I love all that it means. It was taken in October last year, in the "social outbreak" or popular revolt in Chile. It shows "Plaza Italia" (or Plaza de la Dignidad, called like this by people), full of people, with fire and smoke around them. This revolution started because Chilean people were had enough of the injustices, bad education, nad health service, low pensions, unmet basic needs and bad quality of life in general. I think that it is very important that people express their opinion and fight for a better life because our government is useless and corrupt. I really hope that in the future, after this pandemic, the revolt comes back stronger to get real changes like the approval for a new constitution. The police repress people and their liberties, and I think that this makes me so angry because in dictatorship, my grandfather was arrested and was a tortured political prisoner. I just hope that never happens again.

Post 4: My best friend

My friends are very important to me. They are my support and my happiness. Now it is a little different because we are at university and we have less time and now with the pandemic we can't see each other. Also, now we study in different cities. We are 7, but my best friend is called Melani. I met her in 2015 in our first year of high school, and both of us were new in the school. We stared talking because we had the same cellphones. Since that moment, we were inseparable. We graduated from the school in 2018 and both of us had a "sabbatical year". Now, both of us entered at University of Chile, but me in chemistry and pharmacy and she in occupational therapy, at school of medicine. It is so funny because both of us must live in Santiago now (we're from V region). She's a really nice person and I love her. I hope that our friendship lasts forever.
